In the interview conducted by Sabah Gacetesi, the important points and highlights from the statements of the World Halal Summit Council President and Discover Events Board Chairman Yunus Ete are as follows:
Stating that the World Halal Market has reached a size of 7 trillion dollars, “The market is expected to reach 10 trillion dollars in the next five years. It is predicted that the halal economy will shape the global market in the near future.” Explaining that they are working to increase Turkey’s share in this market, Ete said, “We aim to increase Turkey’s share of the halal market to over 400 billion dollars in five years, with the active work of the Halal Accreditation Agency and the events we organize such as Halal Expo.”
The size of the world halal market, which includes a huge sector from finance to food, tourism to textile, cosmetics to medicine, medicine and chemistry, has exceeded 7 trillion dollars. The halal market, which is expected to reach 10 trillion dollars in the next five years, is also expected to shape the global market. Turkey, which has become the base of the halal market with both its geopolitical position and the projects it carries out, has tripled its share in this market in the last five years, reaching over 150 billion dollars. Sector players, who rolled up their sleeves to increase this share to over $400 billion in five years, accelerated their work for the 8th World Halal Summit and the 9th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Halal Expo Fair, the world’s largest ‘halal organization’.
IT WILL SHAPE THE GLOBAL MARKET
World Halal Summit Council Chairman and Discover Events Chairman of the Board Yunus Ete informed that the world halal market has grown more than twice in the last 5 years. Explaining that the Kovid-19 pandemic also had an impact on this rapid growth, Ete said, “One of the foundations of halal products is hygiene. People’s interest in healthy and hygienic products increased during the pandemic period. This increased the interest in halal products. Therefore, the market entered a rapid growth momentum.” Explaining that the world halal market is running towards 10 trillion dollars, Ete said, “Islamic finance is estimated to reach 3.5 trillion dollars, the food and beverage industry is 2 trillion dollars, the halal tourism industry is 400 billion dollars, the cosmetics industry is 200 billion dollars, and conservative clothing is expected to reach a size of over 240 billion dollars. The halal economy is also expected to shape the global market in the near future.”
Türkiye RISES TO THE BASE LOCATION
Noting that they realized the potential in this market years ago and started their work for the Halal Summit and Fair 10 years ago, Ete said, “With our regular organization every year, we have made our country the base of the world halal market and contributed to Turkey’s increase in its share in the halal market.” Explaining that Turkey’s share in the halal market has been growing with each passing year, Yunus Ete continued: “Turkey’s share has already exceeded 150 billion dollars. Considering the market size of 7 trillion dollars, you can see that there is a huge cake here. So we still have a long way to go. With the active work of the Halal Accreditation Agency, which continues its activities in our country, and the events we organize, such as Halal Expo, we are targeting Turkey’s share of the halal transportation market at $400 billion a year.”
500 COMPANIES FROM CLOSE TO 40 COUNTRIES
Explaining that the 9th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Halal Expo Fair will be held at the Istanbul Expo Center between 24-27 November 2022 this year, Yunus Ete gave the following information about the scarf: “We will participate in our organization with the coordination of the Standards and Metrology Institute of Islamic Countries (SMIIC) and the cooperation of Islamic Trade Development Center (ICDT) from nearly 500 countries in 2021. We expect a total of 40 thousand visitors, nearly 9 thousand of whom are foreigners, during 4 days from more than 4 countries.”
